What are the different uses of Silicon PIN Photodiodes?
PIN photodiodes are a type of photodiode that has an undoped region (referred to as the intrinsic layer) sandwiched between p- and n-doped regions. In these devices, the photons are absorbed by the intrinsic layer, which in turn creates an electric current induced by the action of light, known as the photocurrent. Silicon PIN photodiodes (Si PIN) are a specific type of semiconductor photodiode whose intrinsic layer is made from silicon. As a semiconductor, silicon PIN photodiodes have a higher sensitivity to low-spectrum light, such as UV light, while having faster response times and lower noise. These qualities are best applied in such applications as optical communication systems, industrial inspection components, medical and scientific instruments and environmental monitoring.

  • C30741PFH-15S - provides fast response and high quantum efficiency in the 300 nm to 1100 nm spectral range. Their wavelength range of maximal sensitivity lies between 800 nm and 900 nm. The C30741PFH series of Si PIN photodiodes are optimized for high-speed, high-volume and low-cost applications and are available in plastic packaging.
  • C30741PH-15S Si PIN - similar to the C30741PH series, this type of Si photodiode offers the same functionalities as the previous type while providing a larger, 1.5 x 1.5 mm active area chip in a T 1 ¾ clear package.
  • C30807EH - Si PIN Photodiode - 1.0mm - comes with a 1.0 mm active diameter chip in a hermetically-sealed TO-18 package designed for optimal functionality at 300- to 1100 nm wavelength range. It also features a broad range of photosensitive areas from 0.8 mm2 to 100 mm2.
  • C30808EH - Si PIN Photodiode – 2.5mm - this Si PIN photodiode comes with a 2.5 mm active diameter chip hermetically sealed TO-5 package for complete functionality under the 300 to 1100 nm wavelength range and photosensitive areas from 0.8 mm2 to 100 mm2.
  • C30822EH - Si PIN Photodiode - 5mm - comes with a larger active diameter chip at 5.0 mm and a TO-8 package that’s hermetically sealed to ensure its efficient operation at the 300 nm to 1100 nm wavelength range.
  • C30845EH - Si PIN - 8mm- TO-8, Quadrant - features an N-type silicon PIN quadrant photodiode hermetically sealed in a TO-8 package, designed to detect light within the 300 to 1100 nm wavelength range. Among the entire series, this has the most extensive detection range, which lies at 50 mm2, making it useful for obtaining position information for forced and defocused spots in either pulsed or CW mode.
  • FFD-100H - Si PIN - 2.5mm- TO-5, PC, Ultrafast - has a peak sensitivity at 920 nm while featuring an ultra-fast rise and fall time, low NEP and a low operating voltage. It comprises a 2.5 mm shield with an active diameter that is hermetically sealed in a TO-5 package.
  • FFD-200H - Si PIN - 5mm- TO-8, PC, Ultrafast - the FFD-200H features an ultra-fast rise and fall time, low NEP and a low operating voltage. With this enhanced sensitivity, this type of Si photodiode has a higher active diameter at 5.0 mm in a hermetically-sealed TO-8 package.
  • FND-100GH - Si PIN - 2.5mm- TO-5, PC, Ultrafast, Glass Window - this 2.5 mm-active diameter chip comes in a TO-5 package that is hermetically sealed to ensure its performance and reliability across different systems. It has a high responsivity between 400 and 1150 nm, with peak responsivity at 920 nm.
  • HPR-1100BGH Si PIN Receiver - 2.5mm - PV, UV-100BG Rx, Glass Window - has an external feedback resistor that enhances the photodiode’s sensitivity and improves bandwidth flexibility.
