UV Curing for Resins

Phoseon Fire EdgeExcelitas Marketing Manager of Phoseon UV curing solutions Stacy Hoge was among several experts interviewed by Industrial Print for the magazine’s April 2024 issue. The article titled, “Post-Curing Processes,” addresses how sustainability in the manufacturing industry contributes to the trend of using UV curing systems in 3D printers—namely methods that work with resin, specifically photopolymerization-based process like SLA, DLP, and MJP.

According to Hoge’s insights, with a reliable UV LED light source, customers can run a stable process for an extended time. “The UV LED printing process offers the highest efficiency, printing accuracy, and most yield to fulfill the end customer’s stringent requirements. LED technology also allows users to cure heat-sensitive materials, offering new revenue opportunities for printers.”

She adds that UV curing for additive manufacturing will trend upwards in the near future. “As more research and development is done to push the performance of UV-cured resins, the future will offer the ability to print on a wider range of materials and substrates enabling new applications.”
