Excelitas Technologies Names Michael Messier Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Excelitas Technologies, a global provider of innovative, customized optoelectronics to OEMs seeking high-performance technology solutions, announced today that Michael Messier has joined the company as vice president and chief human resources officer.  In this role, Messier is responsible for developing the company’s global human resources strategy and leading core initiatives that attract, engage, retain and develop a strong global team to support Excelitas’ future growth.

“We are very excited that Michael has joined the company,” said David Nislick, CEO of Excelitas Technologies.  “His extensive experience and senior leadership in high-technology industries will be a valuable addition to the Excelitas team as we look to cultivate world-class talent who are committed to building deep relationships with our customers.”

Messier brings more than 25 years of human resources leadership in the high-technology, software and telecommunications industries – where he has led teams at a number of large, publicly-traded companies – to his role at Excelitas Technologies.  Most recently, he served as vice president of global human resources at Starent Networks Corp., a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure solutions, where he was responsible for scaling the global human resource function to enable growth.  Previously, he held senior management roles at Monster Worldwide, Inc., Progress Software Corporation, IBM/Rational Software Corp. and Open Market, Inc.

Messier holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a master’s degree in business administration from Rivier College.  He has also been an adjunct faculty member at Bentley College, teaching a course in compensation management, and is an active member of the Human Resource Leadership Forum (HRLF).

“Excelitas has achieved tremendous broad-based growth and remains dedicated to creating an environment that’s a great place to work,” said Messier.  “I look forward to working with this highly talented and motivated team that’s committed to enabling our customers to excel in their specialty  end-markets and applications.”
