Excelitas Technologies to Present and Highlight Sensor, Detector and Camera Solutions for Defense and Aerospace at SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing

WHO: Excelitas Technologies® Corp., a leading industrial technology manufacturer focused on delivering innovative, market-driven photonic solutions, will showcase its advanced defense and aerospace technology solutions at SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing. During the conference program, Excelitas Optical Designer Christopher Beckerleg and VP Business Development, Advanced Electronic and Optronic Systems Russ Carpenter will present a session entitled, “High-Definition Imaging for Long-Range Border Surveillance and Tactical Imaging.”
WHAT: Excelitas’ conference session will discuss the user requirements for long range thermal imaging quantifying the system trade-offs driven by alternative pixel pitches and the impact on range performance. It will also propose a modular architecture and discuss the design philosophy for mid-wave infrared (MWIR) continuous zoom camera solutions to deliver long range performance with low size, weight and power budget constraints. Additionally, Excelitas will introduce the new state-of the-art, fast aperture, ruggedized MWIR RaptIR camera family.

- EXACTD Laser Warning Detectors: EXACTD Laser Warning Detectors for ground vehicle, naval vessels, and fixed or rotary wing aircraft Laser Warning Systems (LWS) are designed to detect and provide precise angle-of-arrival (AoA) information of incident light emitted by laser range finders, laser target designators and active laser Electro-Optic (E.O.) systems. The modules make use of 9-element Si and InGaAs detector arrays assembled in a sandwich configuration, in conjunction with light guides and a 6-bit digital gray code mask, which through shadowing of the individual channels, encode the incident laser beam AoA into a digital pattern.
- YAG-Enhanced Quadrant Photodiodes: Excelitas is the leading provider of off-the-shelf and customer-specific YAG-enhanced terminal guidance detectors. The cameras combines a ruggedized x12-14 continuous optical zoom capability with the very latest 8µm pixel pitch high operating temperature (HOT) detector to provide exceptional image clarity and range performance. RaptIR delivers long-range surveillance and target identification in a low SWaP ruggedized package featuring long life linear cooler and low noise operation.
- Defense and Aerospace Sensors: Excelitas offers over 30 years of experience providing sensors for the accurate measurement and detection of light, heat, motion and distance in mission-critical military and aerospace applications.
