Expanding Applications: UV and UV LED Curing Advance for Digital Print

Expanding Applications: UV and UV LED Curing Advance for Digital Print The February 2026 issue of Industrial Print magazine features commentary from Excelitas Marketing Manager Stacy Hoge alongside other industry experts, examining how UV and UV LED curing technologies are evolving to support the rapid expansion of digital printing across industrial, packaging and décor markets.

Hoge notes that UV LED technology has largely replaced traditional mercury UV due to its higher efficiency, lower heat and compatibility with a wider range of substrates. “UV LED curing allows printers to achieve high-quality results on challenging inks and finishes while supporting faster press speeds and broader application flexibility.”

She also highlights how UV LED curing supports automation and Industry 4.0 manufacturing. Real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics allow printers to detect curing issues immediately, maintain consistent results and maintain lights-out operations for higher efficiency and uptime. In addition, sustainability and operational efficiency are major benefits, with UV LED systems reducing energy use by up to 85 percent while supporting environmentally responsible production.
