High energy laser mirror

High-Energy Laser Optics and Assemblies

Excelitas produces high-energy laser optics delivering best-in-class laser damage threshold, ultra-low scatter, excellent wavefront performance, exceptional environmental stability and rugged mechanical durability. Our high-energy laser optics and assemblies are ideal for the demanding applications of high-energy lasers, targeting, IR-countermeasure, range finding, and intracavity lasers. Engage our extensive portfolio of components including windows, lenses, prisms, beamsplitters, actively covalent-bonded beamsplitters, polarization control coatings (for intra-cavity and external cavity applications), spatially variable coatings. Assemblies include critical vacuum cells, telescope, beam expansion, beamsteering, cavity oscillator and OPO assemblies.

Laser prism assembly

Our high energy optics fill the critical requirements of pulsed, solid state lasers operating at distinct wavelengths, as well with multi-spectral laser systems.

Superior characteristics are achieved in substrate fabrication, optical coating, metrology and assembly.  Our ion beam sputtering (IBS) coating technology produces fully densified coatings that are resistant to environmental contaminants. Excelitas' advanced fabrication techniques minimize sub-surface damage and are combined with rigorous control of contamination throughout the production process.

Laser crystal coated

Our extensive in-house metrology capabilities enable full characterization and understanding of all phases of the manufacturing process including laser damage testing in compliance with ISO 11254, instrumentation for producing quantitative maps of defect sites, and equipment for measuring absorption and scatter loss at numerous laser wavelengths. We routinely deliver mirrors with laser damage threshold levels exceeding 20 J/cm2 for 3 ns pulses at 1064 nm, and 40 J/cm2 for 20 ns pulses at 1064 nm.

Fabrication and coating provide typical specifications of 99.99% reflectivity, λ/20 flatness (at 633 nm), 10-5 surface quality, and scatter loss of 1 part per million. Sizes: 0.25" to 20" diameter on virtually any substrate material, including fused silica, optical glasses, Zerodur and Pyrex are available.
