Taking the Temperature: UV Curing

FlexoTech magazine featured commentary from Excelitas Marketing Manager Stacy Hoge about the latest trends in the UV curing for flexographic printing. In the article, Hoge details how UV LED curing technology for flexographic printing is advancing rapidly, offering greater efficiency, smaller footprints and cost competitiveness, while enabling faster press speeds, broader substrate compatibility and high-quality results on challenging inks and finishes. She also highlights the benefits of transitioning from traditional UV to LED, including easier installation, reduced environmental impact, expanded decorative capabilities and improved automation and sustainability options.

 “UV LED curing technology opens the door to a wider variety of substrates and new applications, enabling users to print on a variety of labels and packaging materials at high speeds,” said Hoge. “LED emits significantly less heat than traditional UV, expanding the choice of substrates significantly. Flexographic labels can be printed for beverage, household, medical, personal, promotional and many other industrial markets. UV LED curing can also be utilized for printing on flexible films, boxes, cartons, corrugated containers and a wide variety of other packaging materials.”
