Excelitas Introduces Optem mag.x 8X/0.32 PLAN APO Objective for High-Resolution, Large-Field Inspection and Metrology
Excelitas®, the leading provider of advanced, life-enriching technologies that make a difference, serving global market leaders in the MedTech, Life Sciences, Advanced Industrial, next-generation Semiconductor and Avionics end markets, today announced the newest module for its Optem® mag.x System 125 micro-imaging platform. The mag.x 8X/0.32 PLAN APO Objective combines high numerical aperture with a large field of view to maximize throughput while maintaining fine-scale micron resolution for demanding inspection and metrology applications. Its telecentric optical design ensures superior image quality and chromatic correction across the field, supporting consistent imaging performance from center to edge.
A replacement to Excelitas' previous 8X objective, the mag.x 8X/0.32 PLAN APO is the only 8X/0.32 lens on the market that supports sensor sizes up to 57 mm. It offers customers a 20% price reduction while maintaining the high performance of the prior version. The objective is ideal for semiconductor, advanced packaging, flat panel display and precision electronics inspection, enabling users to resolve fine features while simultaneously maximizing the field of view captured in a single image.
Key features include:
- 8X / 0.32 numerical aperture
- Supports image sensor sizes up to 57 mm
- Diffraction-limited, consistent image quality across the full field of view
- Telecentric design
- Apo-chromatically corrected
- Fully interchangeable within the mag.x micro-imaging platform
“Advanced packaging and electronics inspection applications are demanding higher resolution for bonding, alignment and inspection, even as packaged chips grow larger,” said Thomas Schaeffler, Senior Director at Excelitas. “The mag.x 8X/0.32 PLAN APO allows for high throughput while simultaneously providing the high-resolution imaging required for next-generation inspection and metrology applications where resolution, field coverage and accuracy are critical, including emerging display technologies such as microLEDs.”
The mag.x 8X/0.32 PLAN APO is fully interchangeable within the mag.x micro-imaging platform.
