Excelitas Technologies to Present at NIST Single Photon Workshop

Transit Time, Timing Jitter and Time Walk in SLiK APD Presentation to Address Measurements and Implications for Single Photon Counting Applications

Excelitas Technologies® Corp., a global technology leader focused on delivering innovative, customized photonic solutions, today announced that the company will present “Transit Time, Timing Jitter and Time Walk in SLiK APD – Measurements and Implications for Single Photon Counting Applications“ at the NIST Single Photon Workshop 2017 (SPW2017) at the University of Colorado Boulder on August 3, 2017.

The eighth installment in a series of international workshops on single-photon generation and detection technology and applications, SPW2017 brings together a broad range of scientists, engineers and newcomers in the field of single-photon generation and detection for fundamental science and applications. Excelitas’ Product Manager of Low-light-level Detection Solutions Bernicy Fong will present the study of the time related parameters specifically for the Silicon Geiger mode APD with low ƙ factor.

Time jitter and time walk can be affected by several factors. The data for temperature, operating voltage, wavelength of photons and light spot size are the focus of this study. When optimizing these parameters, there will be trade-offs for the desired performance. Understanding this APD’s behaviors will help end-users better employ the detector in some key single photon counting applications.

The “Transit Time, Timing Jitter and Time Walk in SLiK APD” session will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the University of Colorado Boulder University Memorial Center. The full agenda is available at: https://www.nist.gov/sites/default/files/documents/2017/06/08/spwprogram.pdf.
