AIMS Real-time Performance Monitoring for LightHammer UV Curing Systems

Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS)

The Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS®) allows manufacturers to monitor the performance of their smart UV curing systems in real-time and embrace Industry 4.0. Designed for use with our LightHammer® Mark II and Mark III Smart UV curing systems, AIMS helps minimize downtime and reduce the total cost of ownership.

The AIMS software application enables real-time monitoring and data acquisition of critical operating parameters for the LightHammer UV curing system being monitored. With the AIMS software, operators and process engineers can access and view operating data on a PC in real-time through various dashboard formats. The system is capable of sending alerts and notifications via email. Additionally, operators and maintenance personnel can track maintenance schedules for consumable parts to help enhance maintenance planning. AIMS can monitor up to 30 LightHammer 10 Mark II and Mark III UV curing systems simultaneously.

What is AIMS®, and what does it monitor?

The Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS®) is a real-time performance monitoring and data acquisition software solution. Designed for use with Excelitas' LightHammer® Mark II and Mark III microwave UV curing systems, it allows users to track and record up to 36 system metrics via a connected PC. These include magnetron current and voltage, photocell voltage, and the operational life of crucial parts like magnetrons, reflectors, and bulbs.

AIMS provides detailed data visualization through customizable dashboard formats like graphs, gauges, or summaries. This system allows operators to monitor curing system performance at a glance, helping teams detect issues early, reduce downtime, and keep production lines running smoothly and within spec.

How does AIMS support Industry 4.0 initiatives?

The Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS) helps manufacturers digitize their maintenance processes and operational oversight. By aggregating and logging performance data in real-time, the software allows users to identify trends, respond to faults quickly, and export historical reports for quality audits or predictive maintenance planning. The system can also send automated alerts or summary reports via email, keeping operators and engineers informed, even remotely.

What are the key features of AIMS?

AIMS tracks the operational hours of key components such as magnetrons, bulbs, and reflectors, simplifying maintenance scheduling. It can monitor up to 30 UV power supplies per network and supports logging intervals of 15, 30, or 60 seconds.

Each recorded data point includes min, max, standard deviation, and mean values. When configured, the system creates a new timestamped data file daily and can email those files automatically. AIMS® can display up to six metrics simultaneously, and users can switch between real-time graph, gauge, or table views depending on operator preference.

What hardware and software are included?

The AIMS kit includes a USB hardware module (dongle), a DeviceNet™ adapter cable, a DeviceNet™ T-connector, and a USB drive with the software and manual. No external power is required since the module is powered through the PC's USB port.

What are the system requirements?

The Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS®) requires a PC running Windows® 8 with at least 4GB RAM for 32-bit systems or 8GB RAM for 64-bit systems. A dual-core 2 GHz processor or higher is recommended and the module connects via USB. The display should support a resolution of at least 1024 × 768, though a 17-inch widescreen allows optimal viewing.

How scalable is AIMS® for large UV curing networks?

AIMS® is designed to support multi-unit installations. In Primary/Secondary mode, it can monitor up to 13 primary units per network, with a total of 30 UV power supplies connected simultaneously across the system. This allows centralized performance monitoring across complex curing lines with multiple LightHammer® units in operation.

From a single curing head to a fully networked array, AIMS® provides a unified interface for tracking metrics and streamlining diagnostics across the entire setup.
