Glan-Taylor Prism Polarizer
The LINOS® Glan-Taylor Prism Polarizer is a precision optical component designed for demanding polarization applications. It uses two air-spaced calcite prisms with parallel optical axes to achieve high extinction ratios across most of the aperture, ensuring excellent polarization purity. The design minimizes extraordinary ray deviation, maintaining accurate beam alignment and wavefront quality.
The prism is mounted and sized to integrate seamlessly with Microbench systems, providing stability and ease of use in laboratory setups. Uncoated surfaces offer broadband transmission with minimal absorption, making them suitable for applications requiring high optical clarity. With an extinction ratio of 500000:1, the Glan-Taylor Polarizer is ideal for laser systems, precision polarimetry, interferometry, and other optical experiments where maximum polarization contrast and reliability are critical.
Consists of two air-spaced calcite prisms with parallel optical axes for high-purity linear polarization
Delivers extremely high extinction ratios over ~2/3 of the clear aperture for excellent polarization contrast
Minimal beam deviation of the extraordinary ray (3'), ensuring high-precision optical alignment
Uncoated calcite design with broad spectral transmission range from 250–2300 nm for UV, visible, and near-IR applications
Wavelength-dependent transmission (uncoated): ~25–30% at 250 nm, 40–45% at 300 nm, 65–70% at 400 nm, and up to 85–87% beyond 500 nm for efficient light throughput at longer wavelengths
High optical surface quality (40–20 scratch-dig) ensuring low scattering and reliable beam quality
Surface flatness of λ/4 @ 633 nm across the clear aperture for precise wavefront preservation
Optimized geometry (length/aperture ratio 0.85) for compact integration and optical performance
Mounted design with outer diameter compatible with Microbench systems for easy mechanical integration
