The LightHammer 6 MARK II includes an irradiator (modular lamp), electrodeless UV bulb, and a solid-state power supply as well as either an internal or external cooling blower. This 6-inch UV curing system offers a more flexible control scheme via software, reduced operating costs, smaller and lighter weight for easy integration, and reduced unscheduled downtime. The LightHammer 6 MARK is ideal for UV curing applications requiring process flexibility, consistency and maximum uptime. Modular systems can be combined to cure across wider widths or around complex shaped surfaces.

What types of UV bulbs are available for this system?

The LightHammer 6 Mark II supports multiple UV bulb spectra to accommodate different curing applications. Bulb changes are quick and easy. Available bulb types include: 

  • H: Recommended for clear coatings and varnishes 
  • D: Commonly used for inks, thick coatings, and adhesives 
  • V: Useful for white basecoats and specialized applications 

These options allow users to select the spectral output that aligns with their production process needs. 

 

What are the differences between the LightHammer 6 Mark II and LightHammer 10 Mark III?

Both are part of the Fusion UV LightHammer Series of smart UV curing systems, but there are major differences. These include the following:  

Intelligent Monitoring and IoT Integration 

  • Mark II: The solid-state power supply offers flexible control via software and supports integration with the Advanced Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS®) for real-time performance monitoring. 
  • Mark III: Enhanced monitoring capabilities by embedding sensors directly into the irradiator and the solid-state power supply, enabling comprehensive real-time data collection and IoT readiness for advanced process control. 

 

Sensor Technology  

  • Mark II: Uses external monitoring tools for system diagnostics and performance tracking. 
  • Mark III: Incorporates built-in sensors that measure parameters such as UV intensity, air pressure, temperatures (inlet air, bulb, magnetron, ambient), humidity, and irradiator orientation, facilitating predictive maintenance and enhanced system reliability. 

 

Power Output and Width 

  • Mark II: Delivers a power class of 200 watts/cm (500 watts/in), suitable for various curing applications. Lamp head is 6-inches wide. 
    Mark III: Provides a higher power class of 240 watts/cm (600 watts/in), offering increased curing intensity for demanding applications. Lamp head is 10-inches wide. 

 

Cooling Options 

  • Mark II: Available with an optional integral cooling blower, eliminating that need for external cooling fans or ducting 
  • Mark III: Requires external cooling fans and ducting.
