Whether in consumer electronics, industry or science, achieving the highest image quality and optical measurement accuracy requires tighter control over glass tolerances than standard manufacturing can provide. While software-based corrections can compensate for certain image defects, such as vignetting and distortion, these approaches have systematic limitations and lead to increased image noise or reduced image resolution.
