Our facility in Hamble, Southampton,  specializes in the manufacturing of high-performance, solid-state laser systems and fiber optics for scientific, analytical and metrology applications. This site has key functions including Production, Research and Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other disciplines. 

Working as part of a small team, within a cleanroom environment, as a Production Technician you will test complex assemblies, polish, optically test and perform relevant measurements and integrate into final assemblies as required, in accordance with drawings and all other controlled documents.

Your contribution to production will involve –

  • Mechanical, electrical, optical assembly and test
  • Use of vacuum systems
  • Bulk and intricate cleaning of parts and assemblies
  • Packing
  • Completion of relevant electronic records
  • Work within Company policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, material control and maintain high levels of workmanship and cleanliness

Successful candidate will attend a structured onboarding programme, and full training will be provided, based on a structured competency-based grading structure.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience - 

  • Willing to learn and grow with a can-do attitude
  • Previous relevant experience in a manufacturing or process driven environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Dexterous with small components
  • Experience with varied and complex work
  • Experience with serial production
  • Proven organisational skills
  • IT competency, eg. Microsoft packages
  • Good communicator at various levels
  • Previous experience in a training environment
  • Non-smoker/Vaper

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience - 

  • Experience working with Fiber, lasers or splicing
  • Lean experience
  • Able to read specifications from drawings
  • Experience in an ISO 6 or 7 cleanroom
  • Experience with or currently studying Train the Trainer course
  • SAP experience
    Requirements
