As the industry leader in advanced photonic solutions, Excelitas offers next generation lasers including our 1550 nm Pulsed Semiconductor laser diodes. They are offered in a variety of power levels and packages for eye-safe range finding and LiDAR applications. They can be combined with our InGaAs APDs to provide a very high efficiency component pairing. These pulsed laser diodes offer proven reliability in highly demanding applications such as military and aerospace environments.
All our laser products are designed to meet demanding environmental conditions. Case in point, our 1550nm laser solutions, which have been equipped with active layers fabricated using advanced metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) epitaxial growth techniques. They come in two convenient hermetic package configurations: the “S” package, which comes with a TO-18 style low inductance package, and the “R” package, which comes with a CD 9mm outline that provides increased thermal dissipation with the option of accommodating a rear facet monitor photodiode.
With decades of experience in designing and manufacturing advanced laser solutions, trust Excelitas to be a reliable provider of military-grade equipment and devices.
1550nm laser diodes are classified as retina-safe laser devices that integrate and emit light in the short-wave infrared (SWIR) or the near-infrared (NIR) range and are grouped around a center light at 1550nm wavelengths. These are typically used in industrial and military applications, although they also have consumer applications.
1550nm laser diodes also have a wide range of applications across different sectors. It is used in telecommunications to transmit data signals and test fiber cables for potential power losses along the length of the fiber cable. In free-space optics, these semiconductor laser diodes enable line-of-sight connectivity, as their signal is difficult to intercept. In military applications, they can be used in rangefinder systems because of their retinal safety, even at higher power levels.
Excelitas Technologies is the undisputed leader in semiconductor laser technology. It continues to provide industry-leading tech innovations, evident in its PVG series of high-power pulsed laser diodes.
